Unlike my review of the Howard Miller 635-150 Murray Mantel Clock,this clock's volume control can be turned down to the off position.
Its chime is more like a wind chime than a grandfather type clock.
This was desirable as far as we were concerned as the chime does not overpower the room or conversation.
The face of the clock has a diameter of approx 5 1/4". It also has a setting in that it will shut off for a period of 8 hours from wherever you set the switch and stays at that setting until you change it. Thus, you can change its setting for whenever you like. The case is all wood with a very nice face and gold hands.
It will pick up a lot more light reflection making it harder to see the time than the above clock if exposed to it, like from a window. The battery compartment is of lesser quality than the above clock but does the job. The case for the most part is black (about 98%) with some red highlights mostly around the edges.
It has a charming chime to it, has kept perfect time and looks really good. This one we kept.
