I will start by saying I am a big fan of the George Nelson clocks. This is a very good price for this item as most of the others you find are in the $500 - $650 range. That being said I was still a little disapointed upon unboxing it. To be clear the blades are all great. The shape is right, the angle is right, the positioning is good. However I think they are just anodized aluminum. They are for sure not copper like the original. They are rivited on rather then screwed on like the small version. The area I had issues with was the center piece. It comes with the arms in a seperate little package which is good, but the brushed aluminum piece that goes over the wood behind them was not fitting properly. Basically the recessed section of the wood that is to except the circular aluminum piece was out of round so the disc was half in half out. During assembly they just tightened the washer and nut down on the center shaft which created creases and bends in the disc. This material is extremely thin! So for $200 I was disapointed. No I am a major DIY person, have been my whole life. So I opted to fix the situation myself rather then send it back. Mostly because I dont trust that I would get a perfect one by the looks of it and I really want this clock in my space. So I disassemble and rounded out the recession properly so that the disc fits, used some danish oil to get the wood all looking uniform in color again and hand rolled the disc as best I could to straighten out the creases. If you dont have much mechanical or fabrication experience I would recomend sending it back in this situation. The metal disc is really difficult to work with as it is so thin. If you roll it too much it will curve or stretch very easily.

Now that it is on my wall it looks good. I get compliments on it. You can only notice the flaws on the disc up close in certain light. So ultimatley I am satisfied but disapointed. If you really love this clock I recomend skipping this one unless the things I described above dont scare you. If you have the money just buy the more expensive one. It is made by a different company in europe and is most likely higher quality.
