I ordered this unit to replace an older unit of another brand (for bedroom use). I could never seem to use the old unit, no matter how uncomfortable it got on hot summer nights because of the noise it made (even at the lowest speed). The advertising on the Amazon page "suggested" "whisper" quiet (although not on the box as delivered). To cut to the chase, this unit was two-thirds less noisy than the one it replaced... but was not whisper quiet. Don't get me wrong. If you are thinking of buying this unit... I can recommend this model to work just fine, thank you... but not whisper quiet... "just a lot less noisy".
